Harrisburg Association Happenings
Spring Association Meeting - April 22, 8:30am, Peace UCC, Berrysburg
The minutes from the fall meeting (October 30, 2022) may be accessed below:
Disaster Relief Funds Available
Churches may request funds to cover expenses related to any type of natural or man-made disasters. Examples are flooding, wind damage, tornado, fire. According to the modified spending plan, there is $1,000 available for 2022. If the funds are not distributed locally, by the end of the calendar year, they will be provided to the Conference to send to the national disaster ministries program. If the funds are not used in 2022, those funds will also be provided to the Conference for the same purpose. Each request will be limited to $500, but a church may submit multiple requests if they have multiple issues in one year. Similar to our other request procedures, the church will need to submit receipts or paid invoices to document the funds requested (submitted with the request). The funds will be disbursed as reimbursement for funds the church had already spent.

Gather The Spirit
The vital community work of Shared Ministry continues today at the former Shared Ministry site (i.e. 1508 Market Street) through the efforts of an independent 501c3 funding conduit called Gather the Spirit. Under the oversight of a Board (comprised of former Shared Ministry folk and persons from the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg and the Allison Hill neighborhood) a Community Center operates three mornings a week and two free breakfasts are served each month. Sponsors and volunteers are greatly appreciated for the breakfasts (held on the 2nd and last Saturdays of the month and serving over 200 people at each breakfast). If interested, please contact Clay Lambert at clay.jh.lambert@gmail.com or 717-756-7913.

Mission around the Mountain – Update
In the fall of 2011, the Harrisburg Association changed the life of a young single mother in the Middletown area with heating and roof repair on her home. Association congregations made these funds possible. What new needs can we come together to address?
The Dakota Partnership
The Dakota Partnership of the Penn Central Conference is asking each association to connect with and pray for an individual church in the Dakota Association on a regular basis. They are hopeful that the prayers we offer each time we gather will result in increasing commitment to this ministry.
OCWM Task Force
The conference has a task force working on ways to increase our churches awareness of and participation in OUR CHURCHES WIDER MISSION. They have brochures, various presentations and speakers which are available to our churches at no cost. Please consider having an OCWM Sunday or event at your church to increase awareness of the importance of vital program.
